Carlos Alcaraz Is Back With A Bang! Great for Wimbledon 2027 Too!

US Open

September 1, 2026

Carlos Alcaraz took a gamble when he came out swinging against the dangerous Russian, Roman Safiullin.

After 139 days out, the lovable Spaniard didn’t know what would happen – by his own admission.

‘There were some doubts in the match, I’m not going to lie,’ said the former Wimbledon champion. ‘I was thinking about it. “Am I going to last the best of five? Am I going to last playing four sets, five sets?”‘

We still don’t know for sure – because Alcaraz dispatched Safiullin 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. But the signs are encouraging for the world’s most talented player.

Carlos Alcaraz looks sure to be back to his irrepressible best for Wimbledon 2027 – however deep he goes at this US Open.

We can start to look forward to the possibility of a classic Wimbledon 2027 final between Carlitos and Jannik Sinner, who is currently injured and absent at Flushing Meadows.

Centre Court at Wimbledon would be the fitting stage for the next great Grand Slam showdown between our beautiful sport’s biggest stars.

For now, the world is excited to see Alcaraz in full glorious flow once more. His next big test will be the Portuguese sensation, Jaime Faria.

And Alcaraz is now riding the crest of a wave, showing all the enthusiasm of a teenager.

Carlitos explained: ‘I missed the crowd, the energy, the competition. I missed everything. I’m just really, really happy that I was able to compete again.

‘I felt great. I don’t know how it looked from the outside.’

He looked surprisingly devastating from the outside. And Safiullin seemed shocked that the Spaniard could unleash his forehand power to the same degree as he had done before the wrist injury struck.

‘I’ll get better every day, my serve can get better,’ warned Alcaraz ominously.

Carlos Alcaraz may even hit extraordinary new heights at Wimbledon 2027. Just when we thought tennis couldn’t get any better!

The five-set drama is like no other. We just saw the all-American clash between Frances Tiafoe and Martin Damm Jr finish 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Big Foe’s favour at Flushing Meadows.
