Jannik Sinner Storms Through, Emma Raducanu Faces Anisimova
Indian Wells
March 7, 2026
Jannik Sinner and Emma Raducanu have both notched impressive early wins at Indian Wells.
The Italian hasn’t been able to match the explosive start of Carlos Alcaraz so far this year.
But Sinner isn’t at all perturbed. He sounded full of confidence and humility after dismissing Dalibor Svrcina 6-1, 6-1.
Jannik said: ‘Mentally, I feel in an ideal position. I’m very fresh and eager to maximise my potential and keep improving as a tennis player.
‘I feel there are many areas where I can reach a higher level. I also need to improve a lot physically. So I’m investing a lot of time in the gym.’
Jannik Sinner plans to be back at his absolute peak in good time to defend his title at Wimbledon 2026!
But his next challenge will be an exciting showdown with the talented Canadian, Denis Shapovalov.
Meanwhile Emma Raducanu faces an even tougher test after her brilliant opening victory over the fiery Anastasia Zakharova.
The British superstar needed to hit the ground running against the determined Zakharova.
In fact the match was closer at times than the emphatic 6-1, 6-3 score line suggests.
But Emma came through with flying colours and couldn’t have been more pleased.
She said: ‘Today’s match was a great display of how I want to be playing and feeling when I’m on court.’
Raducanu was realistic about her chances against American powerhouse Amanda Anisimova, though.
She said: ‘I’m not necessarily aiming for the stars right now. I just want to be doing my game better and better.’
Jannik Sinner and Emma Raducanu should both be at the height of their powers in time for Wimbledon 2026. Will you be there?
