Jannik Sinner Closes in on Sunshine Double, Coco Through Too

March 25, 2026

Jannik Sinner is a winning machine. Twenty-eight consecutive sets at Masters 1000 tournaments don’t lie.

And now the so-called Sunshine Double beckons. Back-to-back titles. Indian Wells and then Miami in quick succession.

Can anyone stop the world number two, with Carlos Alcaraz already removed from the Miami stage?

Sinner just beat one American in a hugely enjoyable match. Now he faces another.

Yesterday it was Alex Michelsen, a 21-year-old star in the making. Tomorrow it will be Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-finals.

Jannik Sinner is on the charge – and will seek to maintain this winning momentum all the way to Wimbledon 2026.

The scary thing is, Sinner isn’t even playing to the best of his ability, as he readily acknowledged after victory over Michelsen.

The likeable American served for the second set at 5-3 and stormed to a 3-1 lead in the breaker. Still Sinner found a way.

At one stage the Italian struck his adversary in the side as the underdog turned away at the net, knowing the point was lost.

Sinner apologised profusely and they both smiled. Still the American crowd generously roared their appreciation for Jannik – as well as their own man – until the end.

Reflecting on his 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) win, Sinner said: ‘I felt like my serve helped me quite a lot in important moments.

‘At the same time I know if I want to go far in this tournament, I have to improve from the back of the court.’

He should still beat Tiafoe, who is enjoying a better year and just saw off Terence Atmane 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

Meanwhile Coco Gauff is through to her first Miami semi-final after a rollercoaster ride against Belinda Bencic.

In a familiar story, Coco’s serve collapsed in the second set. But she picked herself up to seal a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 victory.

Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff will surely play prominent roles at Wimbledon 2026 as well.

We can’t wait for the main event this summer. But Miami is certainly becoming intriguing, as Gauff seeks glory at her home tournament.

Coco, who plays Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals, said: ‘I think I have to believe that I belong where I am.

‘I get impostor syndrome even when they’re saying my accomplishments during the warm-up. It doesn’t feel like me.’

But Coco should feel like she belongs at the big occasions at Wimbledon 2026 – just as much as she does in Miami.

Gauff has been playing huge matches on Centre Court at the All England Club ever since she was fifteen years old!

We think you belong on Centre Court at Wimbledon 2026 too – in one of the finest debenture seats at the spiritual home of tennis.
