Sinner took sweet revenge over Alcaraz for Indian Wells – and didn’t mind spoiling the Miami party one bit.
Most spectators had come to celebrate the multiple talents of reigning champion Carlos.

In the mean time Carlos must now make way for reigning Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, who returns to world number one.
Sinner had already broken in the final set when Alcaraz showed obvious signs of wear and tear. He seemed to cramp up so badly that his mobility was impaired for the rest of the match.
But the favourite’s real downfall was un characteristically shaky serve which led to nine double faults on a huge occasion.
Take nothing away from Sinner who is truly developing a big-match mentality to go with his all-round skill set.
And his reward for superior fight on the day and a 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-2 victory is a date in the final with Daniil Medvedev.
Meanwhile the popular Petra Kvitova won through 7-5, 6-4 against Sorana Cirstea to book her own showpiece facing the in-form Elena Rybakina.
