Ben Shelton Is Buzzing and Looks Dangerous at Flushing Meadows
US Open
September 3, 2026
Ben Shelton is brimming with confidence and looks capable of winning this year’s US Open.
He defeated the determined Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
And perhaps the most explosive clash of this entire Grand Slam event could come at the quarter-final stage. That’s when Shelton could come up against the resurgent Carlos Alcaraz.
Ben Shelton against Carlos Alcaraz would make a fantastic Centre Court spectacle at Wimbledon 2027 too. They’re just about the hottest young players around at the moment.
The American certainly feels at home on Arthur Ashe – which he has described somewhat controversially as the greatest tennis court in the world.
It may be the biggest and noisiest arena. But can the US Open match the sense of history you feel on Centre Court at Wimbledon? Come and decide for yourself which is best!
You can check out the competitive Wimbledon Debenture Holders prices for each and every day of Wimbledon 2027 by clicking here.
Your Centre Court and No1 Court tickets include access to the best restaurants and bars at the All England Club next summer. And the view from your seat will be amazing!
But just like Ben Shelton, we’re enjoying the action in America right now too. The final Grand Slam of the year is looking deliciously unpredictable. And Ben certainly has his tail up.
He said: ‘I think I found a lot of things to help me sharpen my game in the closing stages [against Hubert]. That was very important to me. That’s why I let my emotions out at the end.’
Shelton tried to play down his much-anticipated possible showdown with Alcaraz in the quarters.
He acknowledged: ‘We have the defending champion in the tournament. But I think a lot of players are in great form right now.
‘I’m focused on my own game. I think this is a tournament where I always want to perform well. But I’ll take it step by step. I’m not getting ahead of myself.’
Meanwhile Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova made short work of eliminating Katie Boulter 6-1, 6-0 in the women’s singles.
Boulter wasn’t able to hold serve once as Muchova showed her ruthless side. The contest only lasted 58 minutes.
Ben Shelton, Carlos Alcaraz and Karolina Muchova will bring all their gladiatorial qualities to Wimbledon 2027, too.
Come and see the most glamorous and historic major of them all. It feels unique to be at Wimbledon, from the moment you walk through the All England Club gates.
We’d love to hear from you – and help you to enjoy that sensation.
