Serena and Venus Wiliams will play doubles at Wimbledon 2026

June 17, 2026
Serena and Venus Williams will grace Wimbledon together one last time in a moment of pure tennis history.
Meanwhile Grigor Dimitrov and Stan Wawrinka will also enjoy wild cards for the greatest Grand Slam of them all.
You will remember that Dimitrov was about to down eventual champion Jannik Sinner last year before he suddenly stopped in his tracks with an injury.
And Wawrinka is known for having one of the most beautiful backhands the world has ever seen.
Serena and Venus Williams will create the biggest feelings of nostalgia at Wimbledon 2026, though.
At 44 and 46 years old respectively, this must surely be their final goodbye as players.
Serena won seven Wimbledon singles titles – and might yet be found an eleventh-hour place in that tournament. We shall see.
Venus was first to burst on the grass court scene – and claimed five Wimbledon singles titles of her own.
But as doubles players they were equally prolific. They won six Wimbledon doubles titles and created countless happy memories of their unique family talent in perfect partnership.
No wonder Serena leapt at her daughter’s suggestion that the old double act should be given one last chance to shine.
Serena had already seen her elder sister achieve the near-impossible by reaching the US Open doubles quarter-finals last year with Leylah Fernandez.
Serena explained: ‘I had no intention of actually being here to be perfectly honest with you. My daughter Olympic said I should play with Venus. She’s always right.
‘I think I was really motivated by what Serena did last year at the US Open doubles. She did really well.’
Asked about a possible singles adventure at Wimbledon 2026, Serena said tantalisingly: ‘You think I’m ready for singles? I need to get to work.’
Serena and Venus Williams will add their star quality to glamorous Wimbledon 2026 at the start of the Championships.
