Serena Williams Is Angling for a Comeback at Wimbledon 2026

Serena Williams is dreaming of the big-time at the age of 44.
She is understood to be hoping for a doubles wildcard at Queen’s – London’s warm-up tournament before Wimbledon.
Serena Williams will surely have one eye on Wimbledon 2026 if she can take her first comeback step in the English capital.
It’s a sensational development for Serena, who has won 23 singles Grand Slam titles. She can’t realistically hope to win another major. But that won’t stop her wanting to try.
American tennis legend Andy Roddick explained: ‘I know this isn’t a pragmatic decision. I’m sure there’s emotion. I’m sure there’s the champion’s mentality, ego and “what if?”
‘If you enter doping protocols, you’re looking to come back, or at least you’re looking at hte option to come back.
‘Is she going to be faster than when she left? I don’t know – but she looks in fantastic shape. And her best chance of lightning in a bottle in this comeback is that it’s on grass at Wimbledon.’
The first planned step is to play doubles at Queen’s, where she’s expected to partner Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko.
But could singles and doubles wildcards be a possibility for Wimbledon 2026?
Serena Williams might even team up with her sister Venus at Wimbledon 2026 or the US Open – to give that historic partnership one last chance.

Meanwhile back at Roland Garros there was another shock as American hot shot Ben Shelton was knocked out by Belgian unknown Raphael Collignon.
Fifth-seed Shelton’s premature departure might just open up the French Open draw for his much-loved compatriot, Frances Tiafoe.
The latter edged Hubert Hurkacz in a five-set thriller – and plays Jaime Faria in the third round tomorrow.
Tiafoe lost his racquet celebrating his marathon triumph with the crowd – and had to beg for its return. The over-enthusiastic supporter eventually obliged in exchange for two tickets to the Foe’s next match.
