Amanda Anisimova has completed the most extraordinary turnaround in her personal fortunes.
And in doing so, she has reminded us how much strength in depth American tennis enjoys.
The exploits of Australian Open champion Madison Keys, superstar Coco Gauff and their compatriot Jessica Pegula were already getting American fans excited.
Now Anisimova has become a WTA 1000 champion in Doha. And the triumph comes less than two years after she quit tennis to protect her mental health.
The defiant 23-year-old defeated the feisty Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 6-3 to take the Qata Open title – and become a genuine Grand Slam contender once again.
Amanda Anisimova will join Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz and the other entertaining Americans expected to go deep at Wimbledon 2025.
She certainly seems to have conquered all her psychological challenges now. And you sense the best part of her career is yet to come.
Focusing on this breakthrough triumph, Amanda said: ‘I think the biggest asset that helped me win the title this week was my composure.
‘Staying calm and believing in myself. I was just happy I kept it together and kept that focus through the whole week.’
And another young star still showing what she can do – even after some people had written her off – is Emma Raducanu.
The plucky Brit ended a four-match losing streak with a significant 6-4, 6-2 win over big name Maria Sakkari in the Dubai Duty Free Championships.
Raducanu was particularly pleased with the way she bounced back after having her serve broken early in each set.
She explained: ‘I just regrouped really well and managed to break back both times. I’m just really proud of my performance.’
Amanda Anisimova and Emma Raducanu will be two of the young stars out to make a massive impression at Wimbledon 2025.
Anisimova has already reached the quarter-finals at the All England Club, beating Coco Gauff along the way in 2022. Can she do even better this year?
