Carlos Alcaraz Faces Jannik Sinner After Beating Swarm of Bees!

Indian Wells

March 15, 2024

Carlos Alcaraz didn’t just defeat Sascha Zverev to reach the Indian Wells semi-finals.

The reigning Wimbledon champion had to outflank a swarm of bees that interrupted play early on.

The reward for Carlitos is a mouth-watering showdown with the other great young player of his generation – Jannik Sinner.

Can Alcaraz end Sinner’s unbeaten run so far this year? It should be a fantastic contest.

Carlos Alcaraz against Jannik Sinner is a Centre Court clash we would all relish at Wimbledon 2024!

And American fans will be delighted that they have two heroes still in the fight at Indian Wells.

Tommy Paul plays Daniil Medvedev in the other men’s semi-final after the home-grown star stayed cool under the comeback threat of Casper Ruud.

Local fans went wild as Paul eventually triumphed 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 to reach the last four.

And Coco Gauff is the other American with an Indian Wells title in her sights after she defeated Yue Yuan 6-4, 6-3.

Regular readers of our blogs will know we highlighted Coco’s double fault problem in her last match. That got much worse in her quarter final, where she amassed no fewer that seventeen double faults!

Coco won’t be able to make that many mistakes in her semi-final against Maria Sakkari. And Iga Swiatek could well be waiting in the final if Gauff makes it through.

Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff and Tommy Paul will be just some of the reasons why Wimbledon 2024 could prove irresistible. Can Gauff win her first Wimbledon title?

See legends like Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic while you still can at the historic home of tennis. Wimbledon 2024 is going to be special.

Fortunately, bees are not expected to attend in significant numbers. You will be able to enjoy your champagne and strawberries at the All England Club unimpeded!

Meanwhile Alcaraz was still smiling at the thought of his Indian Wells ordeal after he disposed of Zverev 6-3, 6-1.

‘For sure the most unusual match I have ever played in my career,’ laughed Carlitos after the hour-long delay seemed to work in his favour.

‘I saw some bees around, but I thought it was just a few of them. But I saw the sky and there were thousands flying, stuck in my hair, going at me.

‘It was crazy. I tried to stay away from them – but it was impossible.’

Carlos Alcaraz will have enough to contend with in the fabulous form of Jannik Sinner next time he’s on court. He will hope the bees sit this one out.
