Emma Raducanu is back in the Grand Slam groove!
She defeated American hot-shot Shelby Rogers 6-3, 6-2 at the Australian Open.
Emma Raducanu returning to form is wonderful news as we build towards Wimbledon 2024!
The former US Open champion hasn’t been able to play a Grand Slam match for a year due to an awkward assortment of injuries.
But now her body is adapting to the demands of the tour and she found the inspiration she needed just when it mattered.
Emma was good enough to take the title against all odds at Flushing Meadows in 2021.
Now we would all love to see her go deep at a Grand slam again.
That way we hope Emma can arrive at her home major full of confidence this summer. Then she take Wimbledon 2024 by storm.
There was a rhythm and power to Raducanu’s serve and ground strokes in Melbourne during her all-important opener.
And once she had taken the first set, she really opened up in style to get the job done.
That suggests Emma is relaxed at the “Happy Slam” and in a good place mentally.
She ran round the perimeter of Court Two accepting the acclaim of the fans and thanking them for their support.
And now she will start to prepare for her second-round match on Thursday against China’s Wang Yafan.
It’s fantastic to see Emma Raducanu finding her feet again. Just imagine if she goes on an impressive run at Wimbledon 2024!
That would add to the magic of a tournament that will already be bursting with talented Brits.
The fact that Katie Boulter, Jack Draper and Cameron Norrie also won through Down Under shows the British can mix it with the best at Grand Slams.
And they’ll never be more psyched up than they’ll be for Wimbledon 2024!
