In the last sixteen he lost the opening-set breaker, but stormed back to win 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3 with relative ease in the end.
Shelton’s compatriot Tommy Paul is sure to give him a major fight in their quarter-final showdown on Friday.
But don’t forget Shelton prevailed 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 when they clashed in the round of sixteen at the Arthur Ashe stadium.
Paul will be out for revenge. And whatever happens, it’s great to see Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz making it big in Japan.
