In the men’s singles, two possible scenarios would have the tennis world buzzing once more: Carlitos against Novak Djokovic in a rerun of the last Wimbledon final. Or otherwise Alcaraz against the young American sensation, Ben Shelton.

Back in New York, young tennis genius Alcaraz made it all look so easy against the highly experienced Sascha Zverev. He brushed aside the talented German 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in a display of total self-assurance.
Then, meaning to be kind, Carlitos said of Zverev: ‘To see him back playing his best again, I am so happy. We are really happy to have him back.’
Alcaraz clearly isn’t scared of his next opponent, Daniil Medvedev either. He explained: ‘I feel so comfortable playing on this court. I’m at my best level. I’m ready to play a great battle against Medvedev.’
And Madison Keys will also have to raise her level even higher, despite looking fantastic as she crushed Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-4.
Madison faces powerful favourite Aryna Sabalenka in her semi-final, for the right to play either Coco Gauff or Karolina Muchova in the final.
