Novak Djokovic Avenges Wimbledon And Coco Wins Again!

Novak Djokovic ripped open his shirt like the Incredible Hulk – and called it ‘one of the toughest and most exciting matches I’ve ever played.’

A heartbroken Carlos Alcaraz burst into floods of tears and tried to hide his sobs with a towel.

These were some of the scenes after the longest three-setter in living memory, a Cincinnati final to beat all finals, almost four hours of pure drama and heavenly tennis.

And Novak Djokovic had it right in a typically brilliant post-match speech. ‘This rivalry just gets better and better,’ he said.

Novak Djokovic against Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon 2024. Can you imagine the sheer drama there too?

We don’t have to try too hard, because they have already clashed on Centre Court at the All England Club. In fact they thrilled the world there just a few weeks ago.

All the signs indicate that Wimbledon 2024 could be even better for those lucky spectators at the spiritual home of tennis.

Anyone who thought we could start to write off Novak Djokovic had better think again. He looked down and out against Alcaraz overnight. But we should have known he wasn’t done.

Djokovic was a set behind and seeking medical help at 1-3 down in the second set. He even saved a match point in the subsequent tie-break, after he clawed his way back into contention.

Luckily for the tennis world, incredible Novak was able to set up one of the greatest final sets we can recall on US soil – and there have been so many.

Perhaps the most dramatic moment of all came when Alcaraz, facing one of five match points, raced forward to turn an impossible pass round the corner and back into play to stay alive.

Djokovic just laughed in disbelief. But he wasn’t to be denied his revenge for that recent Wimbledon final.

Novak battled through to take this epic 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4). And it wasn’t long before he was hoping that he and Alcaraz could do it all again for the fans at Flushing Meadows.

Given the substantial points Carlitos must defend at the US Open, there’s a good chance Djokovic can reclaim the number one spot in New York.

And that would set things up nicely for 2024, including the greatest Grand Slam of them all.

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have made the prospect of Wimbledon 2024 irresistible already!

And the form of another Wimbledon favourite also has the whole of tennis talking.

Coco Gauff is in extraordinary shape going into the US Open.

It’s not just that she won Washington recently. Now the resurgent Coco has won Cincinatti too, beating Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

Joining Brad Gilbert and leaving her early Wimbledon loss firmly behind her seem to have worked wonders for Gauff’s mentality.

She must be one of the favourites for the US Open now. And we expect her to go deep again at Wimbledon 2024 as well, after this year’s uncharacteristic hiccup on grass.

Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff could make Wimbledon 2024 the most memorable of them all!

And Emma Raducanu should be back to her best in time for Wimbledon 2024 too.
