Andy Murray has set up a mouth-watering clash against Taylor Fritz in the last sixteen of the Citi Open in Washington.
And back in England, superstar Emma Raducanu was enjoying life on a tennis court again at last, after her recent wrist and ankle surgery.
Raducanu posted a video of herself hitting with Kyle Edmund – and described the final stages of her tennis comeback as the “fun part.”
She won’t be ready for the US Open, but it’s a great sign for her prospects at all the Grand Slam events next year.
Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu going deep at Wimbledon 2024. That’s what we want to see!
That’s what will make Wimbledon 2024 even better than Wimbledon 2023.
We did just enjoy the drama of that amazing clash between Murray and Stefano Tsitsipas at the All England Club.
But Murray knows he is still good enough to be among the best in the second week at Wimbledon.
And Taylor Fritz, the charismatic American, will aim for the latter stages at Wimbledon 2024 as well.
Murray and Fritz are in great form at the Citi Open in Washington.
Andy defeated Brandon Nakashima 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to earn the right to hunt bigger fish at the tournament.
And they don’t come much bigger than Atlanta champion Taylor Fritz right now.
Like Murray, Fritz will be disappointed that his Wimbledon adventure didn’t last longer this year.
Andy Murray and Taylor Fritz will feel Wimbledon 2024 has bigger moments waiting for both of them.
In the mean time, Taylor Fritz against Andy Murray is a scintillating prospect for American fans, as the build-up to the US Open begins in earnest.
Taylor saw off his compatriot Zachary Svajda 6-3, 6-3 – and now he must be favourite to do the same damage to Andy.
Murray won’t fear Fritz though, because he has been buoyed by his own encouraging form in the last round.
‘I thought I did well,’ Andy said after victory over Nakashima. ‘I hit the ball well from the beginning.’
These are the kind of players we want to see coming back with a bang after their Wimbledon disappointments.
Wimbledon 2024 will be an even bigger draw for tennis fans the world over, if Emma Raducanu joins Fritz and Murray in the thick of the action.
And that’s how it’s looking, in a positive week for our beloved sport.
Will you be there in London next summer to enjoy the most glamorous and historic Grand Slam of them all, Wimbledon 2024?
