Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic Still On Collision Course

Wimbledon

July 12, 2023

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Holger Rune to set up a fascinating semi-final clash against Daniil Medvedev on Friday.

And Novak Djokovic will contest the other semi against Jannik Sinner, on what promises to be a dramatic day on Centre Court.

Sinner was two sets up against Djokovic in the quarter-finals last year. Can he take the Serb to the wire again at Wimbledon 2023?

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are still in the mix at Wimbledon 2023 – and they could yet serve up a spectacular final on Sunday.

Meanwhile the women’s semi-final between Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday could ultimately provide the Wimbledon 2023 winner in the women’s tournament.

Many will hope Ukrainian superstar Elina Svitolina can overcome Czech challenger Marketa Vondrousova to win the other semi-final – and create an emotional showpiece on Saturday.

Svitolina has had a baby in the last year – and her nationality makes her success so far at the All England Club particularly poignant.

How lucky we are to have such mouth-watering matches on Thursday and Friday!

But we should definitely pay tribute to Chris Eubanks for his amazing breakthrough at these sparkling Championships in SW19.

We highlighted his extraordinary progress even before he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas and ran Medvedev so close.

It all made for such a surprising adventure for American tennis lovers after the early disappointment of Taylor Frisk exiting before his time.

Eubanks has captured everyone’s hearts. Perhaps he could have found more resilience in the final set against big-serving Medvedev, although Daniil couldn’t stop firing aces and became almost unplayable.

Medvedev and Alcaraz, who have struggled to show their full repertoire on grass before Wimbledon 2023, are now a huge threat to Novak Djokovic and his dreams of a 24th major title.

Novak has warned all his younger rivals with a simple message at Wimbledon 2023: ‘It ain’t happening.’

The next few days will tell the full story at the most legendary Grand Slam of them all.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are still on collision course for a classic Wimbledon 2023 final on Sunday.

Elena Svitolina and Aryna Sabalenka could meet in the women’s final.

Could Wimbledon 2023 be any better or more dramatic right now?
