Venus Williams On Centre Court Today – As We Said She’d Be

Wimbledon

July 3, 2023

Venus Williams will make one last appearance on Wimbledon’s iconic Centre Court today.

The first week of Wimbledon is all about enjoying the legends of the game – for as long as they are able to stay in the tournament.

And they don’t come much more legendary than Venus, who has been loved at Wimbledon for decades.

The elder Williams sister was first to burst upon the scene and win Grand Slams before Serena took over as the greatest of all time.

Venus Williams won no fewer than five Wimbledon singles titles in her own right – and transcended the game with her willowy grace and fierce fighting spirit.

Venus Williams and her return to Centre Court at the age of 43 will be an unforgettable moment in Wimbledon history. Will you be there?

Here at Wimbledon Debenture Holders, we were able to tip you off about the opening day at Wimbledon. We hinted it was likely to provide us with this classic moment on the biggest stage of all.

In a recent blog we wrote: ‘The legendary Venus Williams, aged 43, comes up against the popular Ukrainian, Elena Svitolina, in a match likely to be given Centre Court billing on Monday.’

That billing duly came true. Another example of why we at WDH are the known as the trustworthy company of true tennis lovers. We have the knowledge to ensure all your Wimbledon dreams come true on your big day at The Championships.

Wimbledon 2023 will be full of twists and turns – and we’ll guide you through them all.

As for Venus, she will have her work cut out against Svitolina. Elina is eager to impress on her comeback trail. What a spectacle this showdown will be!

And before Williams walks out, the great Novak Djokovic will begin his campaign to eclipse the other Williams sister, Serena. The Serb is out to surpass Serena’s 23 Grand Slam singles titles.

Novak plays Pedro Cachin of Argentina. He should get his first job done relatively easily, once he adapts back to life on grass.

To finish off a superb Centre Court day, we will see the new Italian superstar, Jannik Sinner take on another Argentine, Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

Meanwhile on No1 Court, Iga Swiatek begins her title bid against Lin Zhu of China, before the brilliant Casper Ruud faces France’s Laurent Lokoli.

Finally, there is a superb all-American clash between Coco Gauff and Sofia Kenin.

Let’s get the Wimbledon 2023 party started – and savour every moment!

Venus Williams will create the biggest moment to savour on Day One for us.

The reception she’ll receive on Centre Court at Wimbledon 2023 will live long in the memory, we suspect.
