Carlos Alcaraz Will Play Stefanos Tsitsipas In Quarters

Roland Garros

June 4, 2023

Carlos Alcaraz produced a sparkling display to see off his Italian challenger Lorenzo Musetti.

Some of his stroke-play was simply out of this world. Drop shots crafted with such fearsome backspin that the points were over the moment the ball cleared the net.

Forehands and backhands pinged with such little back-lift that they fizzed mercilessly at Musetti and remained unreturnable.

The underdog didn’t even play badly. But he was rarely in the match as Alcaraz romped to a brilliant 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Alcaraz said later: ‘I was really pleased with my level and the way I played from start to finish. I try not to think about the pressure of being world number one. I just enjoy myself and try to entertain the crowd.’

Carlos Alcaraz will be sure to entertain Centre Court at Wimbledon 2023 and we can’t wait!

Will you be there?

Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic is hitting top form too.

‘This is the best I’ve played for a while,’ he said after his clinical dismissal of Juan Pablo Varillas by 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.

It’s the seventeenth time Novak has reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros – and that’s a record.

Now the Serb plays Karen Khachanov for a place in the semis, where Alcaraz could be waiting.

But first the Spaniard will have to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas. And the Greek is looking formidable on the Parisian clay too.

He played some swashbuckling tennis to see off Austrian opponent Sebastian Ofner 7-5, 6-3, 6-0.

Tsitsipas said later: ‘He tried his best and made it difficult for me at times but I feel I can get better.

‘It’s good to keep your mind clear and sharp, switch off at times, disconnect – and Paris is a great place to do that.’

But Tsitsipas will have to be right back on it against Alcaraz, who has played Stef four times and beaten him four times.

We have some great matches ahead at Roland Garros.

Wimbledon 2023 will be even better with Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas on this kind of form.

Come and join the party in London in July. Royalty and Hollywood celebrities are already looking forward to their days out at Wimbledon 2023 this summer!
