Carlos Alcaraz Makes More History With Madrid Triumph

Carlos Alcaraz has now won back-to-back Madrid titles – and he’s only just turned twenty!

The young sensation didn’t even need his best tennis in the end.

He just required a gritty determination not to lose in front of his family and friends.

That’s an impressive quality, the ability to find solutions and come out on top when it isn’t happening spontaneously.

Alcaraz already has every shot in the book and stunning speed around the court. Add to that a growing psychological strength and you pretty much have a complete player.

Carlos Alcaraz looks destined to go deep at Wimbledon 2023 and must be a contender for the title.

And Carlos must surely be going into the French Open as favourite.

Rafael Nadal is still recovering from injury and Novak Djokovic hasn’t found anything like his best form recently.

Of course, both men are giants and they can never be written off. Djokovic in particular will probably be back to his very best for Wimbledon 2023.

But young Alcaraz looks unstoppable on clay right now.

And he will delight the world on the manicured lawns of London soon after Roland Garros.

Carlos Alcaraz in full flow at Wimbledon 2023 is something we simply can’t wait to see!

Once he truly takes to the grass at the All England Club he will be a force there for years.

We should pay tribute to the German opponent who made it so difficult for Carlitos in his own back yard.

Jan-Lennard Struff fought hard and created a scare before Alcaraz prevailed 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 for his fourth trophy on the ATP Tour this season and tenth overall.

Only the great Nadal has defended his Madrid title in this way before. But Carlos felt he just had to.

He explained: ‘In front of my home crowd and my family and friends – for me it’s a special feeling that I will never forget.

‘It was a really tough match. Jan was playing great. Really aggressive in the second set.

‘But to lift the trophy here in Madrid, in my country is special. To be champion here is so special.’

We’re counting down the days until Carlos Alcaraz comes to England.
