Emma Raducanu Beats The Big Three For Marketability!

October 19, 2022

Emma Raducanu has beaten Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on the latest list of most marketable athletes.

SportsPro’s top fifty showed the value of worldwide appeal – and Raducanu definitely has that, by virtue of her heritage and upbringing.

She has Chinese, Romanian, Canadian and British roots – and that helps her cover some key regions of the global market.

But there is one very surprising aspect to the latest marketability rankings.

Emma Raducanu is above Nadal, Federer and Djokovic on the list.

She won the US Open last year and reached the second week of Wimbledon in 2021 too. But she can’t compete with the Big Three when it comes to Grand Slam titles.

Nadal has 22 majors while Federer has 20. Djokovic could yet become the greatest of all time because he is physically the freshest of them all and already has 21 Grand Slams.

Yet Raducanu is ranked number 12 among the most marketable athletes in the world.

Djokovic is way back in the list at 46th – perhaps because of his controversial vaccine stance in recent years.

Nadal is way above Novak at number 16. Federer is ranked 23 and that reflects the fact that, while his playing career has now finished, he is still one of the best-loved stars of all time.

Raducanu is incredibly popular too. But the difference is that she now has the world at her feet.

Emma Raducanu looks set for a fantastic Wimbledon 2023. She is working so hard on her physical conditioning.

Andy Murray’s old fitness guru, Jez Green should have her in perfect shape for The Championships next summer.

And Emma will be desperate to let her racquet do the talking after a rollercoaster year since finding world fame.

Having said all that, Raducanu isn’t the highest-ranked tennis player on the list of most marketable athletes. She isn’t even second!

Serena Williams is still the undisputed queen of tennis – despite her own retirement from the sport. She is second on the overall list behind soccer’s superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Naomi Osaka is the next most marketable tennis star at number six on the list.

She too has struggled to cope with her high profile. But like Raducanu, her dual heritage means she attracts a massive following in the commercially lucrative Far East as well as in the West.

These stars simply transcend tennis. You could say they unite the world in their own right.

We can’t wait to see Raducanu and Osaka at Wimbledon 2023.

Fans from all over the world will come to love and support them.
