Ons Jabeur is the first Arab player to reach the Wimbledon final and seems to have all the momentum.
The brilliant Tunisian has captured Wimbledon hearts rather like Simona Halep did three years ago.
Jabeur is cheerful and skilful and could become a Wimbledon legend.
Ons Jabeur may be ready to triumph at Wimbledon 2022 and delight Centre Court!
Why is she so loveable?
Just look at the manner of her semi-final victory against her friend Tatjana Maria.
After winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to reach her first Grand Slam final, you would think Jabeur might have been lost in selfish celebration.
But her first thought was for her barbecue buddy Maria across the net. So she brought her opponent back out onto court to share the adulation.
It was a superb gesture to go with her scintillating performance.
And she also paid tribute to Tatjana’s highly successful return to tennis after another break for childbirth and early motherhood.
Ons Jabeur is a lovely person and she would be a fitting and charming Wimbledon 2022 winner!
She fell in love with Wimbledon last year and vowed to return for glory.
Jabeur said: ‘Not to lie to you, the dream started last year when I enjoyed playing here, enjoyed the crowd.
‘When I lost in the quarter-finals I told my mental coach “I’m coming back next year for the title.”‘
That prediction might well come true
But it takes two to make a great final and Elena Rybakina is likely to test Jabeur to the limit.
She beat hot favourite Simona Halep 6-3, 6-3 and never let the Romanian find a familiar rhythm.
Playing under the flag of Kazakhstan, Rybakina was also lifted by superb support.
She said: ‘Today when the full crowd was cheering I was nervous but I’m very happen to win.’
Make no mistake, the women’s singles final on Saturday is going to be a fascinating and emotional affair.
Will you be there to see a new tennis queen crowned?
