Andy Murray To Play Novak Djokovic After Sensational Win!

Andy Murray knew he had broken the golden rule but he was not ashamed because he is only human.

You’re not supposed to think about the next match before you have won the contest you’re currently playing. Any sportsman will tell you that.

But when the prize for victory was a first showdown with the great Novak Djokovic in five years, the temptation was too great.

Andy Murray against Novak Djokovic. This would be the perfect match-up to mark Centre Court’s centenary at Wimbledon 2022!

And to the sheer delight of the tennis world, this is the titanic clash we can now look forward to in Madrid on clay.

It’s Murray’s reward for an unlikely but hugely impressive win over Canada’s Denis Shapovalov.

In his first top-twenty victory and biggest upset of the season so far, Murray won through 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

After all his good work in the first set, some careless work in the second had seen Murray pegged back.

Then he allowed himself to think about Djokovic, one of his greatest adversaries and of course the man he conquered to win Wimbledon for the first time in 2013.

For Novak was the man waiting in the last sixteen in Spain if Murray could just summon enough brilliance.

Andy explained to Amazon Prime: ‘I thought about it a little bit at the beginning of the third set. I didn’t know if I was going to get the chance to play matches like that again.’

Murray hasn’t played Djokovic since 2017 and he wasn’t about to pass up the chance.

His returns to go 4-2 up in the decider were out of this world. His serves to save himself from a break-back were little short of heroic.

By the time Murray closed out, he knew all the hard work and criticism on that long and painful comeback trail had been worth it.

Now he will fight with that huge heart of his and deploy all that improving movement to try to pull off another shock.

‘In theory I shouldn’t have a chance in the match, I really shouldn’t,’ he admitted with an excited smile. ‘But I’ve put myself in a great position.

‘I worked extremely hard in the last five or six weeks to get here. And it’s a terrific opportunity to play against Novak again on a huge court in a big tournament.’

Andy Murray will believe anything is possible now. In Madrid and at Wimbledon 2022!

He is finding top gear in good time for Wimbledon. And we have another superstar in Emma Raducanu to cheer there too.

Who wouldn’t want to be at Wimbledon 2022 in this historic year of all years?

We can help you be there on Centre Court to create your own personal memories of a lifetime.
