Andy Murray gained sweet revenge for his Aussie Open exit with a thumping victory over Japan’s Taro Daniel in Qatar.

Meanwhile his young compatriot Emma Raducanu has climbed to twelfth in the WTA rankings following her impressive display against Sloane Stephens Down Under.

The British pair are starting to build towards the biggest occasion on the tennis calendar at the All England Club this summer.

They are both major title winners and will be desperate to do well at their home Grand Slam.

Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu could both go deep at Wimbledon 2022!

And that will create a marvellous atmosphere at The Championships.

It’s already going to be a unique and historic occasion because this is Centenary Year on Centre Court.

And the British stars will be hoping to write a fresh chapter in that rich Wimbledon history.

Murray is pleased with his overall progress despite his surprise defeat to Daniel in Melbourne.

The Braveheart Scot has broken back into the top 100 and beaten the same man in the Middle East.

He began to secure that sweet revenge after two early breaks at the Qatar Open and was in the driving seat from the start.

Even when Daniel broke at the start of the second, he couldn’t turn the tide.

Murray quickly seized the initiative once more and romped his way to a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

He said: ‘I tried to be the one dictating from the first the point and I thought I did that well.

‘It was one of the better matches I’ve played in recent months.’

Meanwhile Raducanu will aim to recapture the form she showed in the 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 win over Stephens when she plays the Abierto Akron Zapopan tournament in Mexico.

She said: ‘I’m looking forward to competing again and seeing Mexico for the first time!’

Raducanu is building for the summer and Wimbledon 2022 will mean everything to her.

And two North Americans will also reach Wimbledon having already been involved in important breakthrough moments.

Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-2 to notch his first ATP title at the Rotterdam Open.

Meanwhile Reilly Opelka took the inaugural Dallas Open and received congratulations from the great Venus Williams among others.
