Ash Barty Starts The Party After Making Her Dream Come True

Australian Open

January 29, 2022

Ash Barty roared with relief as the Melbourne crowd went wild.

She had wobbled and faltered but then she rediscovered her true and brilliant self in such style.

The Wimbledon champion is now also the Australian Open champion. And let’s not forget the French Open was her first big triumph.

Will Ash complete the Career Slam later this year? It seems likely.

All that matters now is that Ash Barty has made her dream come true and made the Australian people happy and proud.

She’s the first Australian woman to win her home Grand Slam since Christine O’Neil in 1978.

Could Emma Raducanu emulate these heroics at Wimbledon 2022?

Whatever happens, we’ll enjoy watching her try when the British summer takes over.

But the first big achievement of the year belongs to Barty.

For a long time this Aussie Open final was quite simply a psychological thriller. Both women were so nervous.

Danielle Collins certainly had her chances. She earned the first break point in the opening set and then stormed to 5-1 in the second. The American was even two points from levelling the match at 6-5.

Perhaps the thought of actually maintaining that momentum and winning the trophy proved too much to handle for a first-time finalist.

But American tennis fans can be so proud of their star! We hope they can enjoy seeing her go deep at Wimbledon 2022 as well!

The Australian party really started in the tie-break when Ash romped away to glory. She seemed to love every point and every moment.

The nerves had given way to joy. And in truth we all sensed the significance of that 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) victory. Ash Barty is so very loved the world over.

Wimbledon 2022 is just months away and we will welcome back our champion with great affection.

Who can stop her? Will Emma Raducanu repeat her US Open glory and remember the amazing ride which began at Wimbledon last year?

If she can recapture that sense of fun and fighting spirit then anything is possible at the famous old All England Club. We can’t wait!

For Barty the pressure is now off and she can simply enjoy her status as world number one and Australian Open winner!

Barty said: ‘This is a dream come true for me and I am so proud to be an Aussie, thank you!

‘As an Aussie, the most important thing is to share this win with so many people. You guys in the crowd have been amazing. You relaxed me and forced me to play my best tennis.’

It certainly took a while, but the second-set nerves just added to the drama.

Barty finally seemed to summon the undeniable team spirit in her camp to see her through.

Ash added: ‘No one’s changed in my team and it’s been incredible. You are the best in the business, thank you for all the time and love you put into me.’

Collins will now enter the top ten for the first time in her career. She said: ‘A big congratulations to Ash. I really admire the player that you are and the variety in your game.

‘Hopefully I can put some of that into mine! Now it’s time to celebrate a big night for Ash!’

Indeed it was. But it took so much character for the American to come out with such a generous remark. And Danielle made many new friends with her performance and speech.

For all that, Barty thoroughly deserved to cherish her special night. She had overcome a tremendous weight of expectation on her shoulders.

Congratulations Ash Barty! We can’t wait to see you on the Wimbledon grass once more.

Will you join Ash at the All England Club and sample the style and glamour of this historic venue in Centenary Year?

We can help you make that happen. Bring on Wimbledon 2022!
