Raducanu Wins The US Open And Salisbury Takes Two Titles

US Open

September 12, 2021

Emma Raducanu has achieved the seemingly impossible and won the US Open.

Here at WDH we saw superstardom beckoning for Raducanu last year and we told you she would be ‘massive.’

Yet another reason why you can trust our friendly experts to deliver for Wimbledon 2022.

And we’re already preparing for the biggest event of the British calendar next year.

Just imagine what Emma can achieve at Wimbledon next summer!

Growing “Radumania” already makes Wimbledon 2022 truly unmissable and the hottest ticket in town.

Americans and Brits alike have taken Raducanu to their hearts.

Can Emma win Wimbledon too? Sure she can!

In 2021 Raducanu reached the second week at the All England Club. Now she is a Grand Slam champion!

Centre Court can’t wait to give the new British heroine a huge welcome.

We predicted here in August 2020 that Emma was going to be ‘a massive star.’

But not even we could have seen her dream coming true quite so soon.

No one could. The nation is in a state of astonished delight!

The fairy tale of New York has been followed by everyone.

The Queen led the congratulations after the incredible teenager became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade triumphed at Wimbledon in 1977.

Her Majesty said in a statement: ‘I send my congratulations to you on your success.

‘It’s a remarkable achievement at such a young age, and is testament to your hard work and dedication.

‘I have no doubt your outstanding performance, and that of your opponent Leylah Fernandez, will inspire the next generation of tennis players.’

The Canadian put up fierce resistance but Raducanu was simply sensational. She won 6-4, 6-3 to complete a perfect ten in matches at Flushing Meadows.

She did so without dropping a single set.

Raducanu hadn’t yet received the royal stamp of approval when she said: ‘It was always a dream to win a Grand Slam and I just want to enjoy every single second of this day.

‘To have my parents say they are proud and happy means everything to me.’

The entire nation is proud and happy. Did anyone see this level of joy and success coming?

Last year Raducanu’s special talent began to shine like never before at the Battle of the Brits and we knew she was destined for greater things.

In a blog on August 3, 2020 we wrote: ‘Emma Raducanu has shone all week. Who doesn’t think the 17-year-old is a massive star in the making?’

Well, quite a few people seemed to have their doubts. Even when she did so well at Wimbledon this year, Emma’s temperament was questioned.

No one doubts her strength of character now!

And Emma Raducanu could make Wimbledon 2022 one of the most iconic sporting events of all time.

British money expert Martin Lewis believes Raducanu will make ‘hundreds of millions’ of pounds in the marketing clamour to be associated with her over the coming years.

But in all the adulation for Raducanu, we shouldn’t forget the extraordinary achievement of another Brit at Flushing Meadows.

Joe Salisbury claimed not one doubles title but two!

He added the mixed doubles crown to the men’s doubles title he won on Friday.

This time it was an Anglo-American affair. Salisbury partnered Desirae Krawczyk and together they beat Marcelo Arevalo and Giuliana Olmos 7-5, 6-2.

Salisbury said: ‘It’s been an incredible couple of weeks here with the fans back, it’s been so much fun.’

And that’s what Wimbledon 2022 promises to be too.
