Kyle Edmund Breaks Into Top 20 In Good Time For Wimbledon!

Kyle Edmund is hitting the heights once more, with some spectacular wins in Madrid to earn himself a top twenty world ranking.
The Australian Open semi-finalist grabbed the headlines again earlier in the week by beating none other than the great Novak Djokovic 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
In doing so, Edmund showed courage and composure to save three break points in the deciding set. And the improving Brit showed more steel when he took on David Goffin, with a place in the last eight the tantalising prize.
CONTENDER
Edmund triumphed once more in a fresh upset, seeing off the world number ten 6-3, 6-3 to set up a mouth-watering clash with Denis Shapovalov next time out.
Whatever happens in Madrid from here, Brit fans know they have another genuine contender for Wimbledon, in addition to the great Andy Murray.
Indeed, such is Edmund’s rapid rise that it is far from certain that Murray would beat Kyle if the two were to meet at Wimbledon.
REALISTIC
Murray has been out with a hip injury for the best part of a year. And his mother Judy has reassured fans that he is doing everything he can to be in good shape for Wimbledon.
Murray will be desperate to shake off his ring-rust and thrill Wimbledon fans once more. Wouldn’t he just love to show everyone that he is still the best Brit on the block?
What a delight it would be to see both Andy and Kyle reaching the business end of Wimbledon 2018 – a dream scenario that must now be a realistic possibility.
POWER
One step at a time for Edmund, who has already achieved one of his biggest aims for the year. He explained: ‘After the Australian Open it was a goal of mine to get inside the top 20.’
And he has done it, he suggests, by learning to choose his moments to unleash his natural power.
‘Sometimes it’s about picking moments not to be aggressive,’ Kyle said after his impressive win over Goffin.
TRIGGER
‘If I don’t pull the trigger too often then I play well.’
As he continues to mature, a Wimbledon title must surely be in Edmund’s sights sooner rather than later.
Andy Murray has achieved that dream. Why not Kyle Edmund?
