Iva Jovic Wins Guadalajara, GB Powers into Davis Cup Finals

Iva Jovic has won back-to-back titles in Guadalajara at the tender age of eighteen.
The young American had an impressive Wimbledon – and made it through to the fourth round in July.
Iva Jovic could make an even bigger impact at Wimbledon 2027 as she continues to grow in confidence.
And Iva was thrilled to be victorious in Mexico yet again as she triumphed 6-4, 6-2 over her compatriot Peyton Stearns.
The teenager broke late in the first set and early in the second to make the most of key moments and seal the deal.
And throughout the contest, her serve stayed impressively strong. Jovic won 77 per cent of her first serve points, pinged down four aces – and never came close to being broken.
Wearing a celebratory Mexican hat, Jovic said: ‘It’s amazing to be back here in the final with this beautiful trophy and this sombrero. I love it here.
‘You guys have given me so much energy. The crowd is my favourite thing about coming here, thank you so much.’
Meanwhile Great Britain have made it through to the Davis Cup Finals for the first time since 2023. They closed out their qualifier against Ecuador 4-0 on Sunday.
Henry Patten and Neal Skupski sealed GB’s place in the final eight in Bologna in November. They beat Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles at London’s Copper Box Arena.
That gave the Brits the 3-0 advantage they needed after Toby Samuel and Wimbledon superstar Arthur Fery had won singles rubbers on Saturday.
Harry Wendelken won the dead rubber to maintain the mood of joy and relief and make it a clean sweep for the home heroes.
GB captain Leon Smith can’t wait to get in amongst the Davis Cup giants once more. ‘Sinner and Alcaraz could be back playing for Italy and Spain but you’ve always got a chance.’
