Taylor Fritz and Jack Draper are to meet in a blockbuster match-up in the very first round at Wimbledon 2026.
And the great Serena Williams opens her campaign with a tricky test against Australian youngster Maya Joint.
Taylor Fritz and Serena Williams will have to fight hard to keep their Wimbledon 2026 dreams alive beyond their first gladiatorial contest.
At 44 years of age, Serena is almost a quarter-of-a-century older than her opponent. Joint was recently beaten in straight sets by Emiliana Arango at Eastbourne, but won the event last year.
And although Maya is erratic, Williams will need all her experience and match-wisdom to negotiate this challenging start at the All England Club.
Whatever happens, it will be an historic occasion, with Serena highly likely to make Wimbledon 2026 her final farewell on grass.
But it’s the Taylor Fritz versus Jack Draper showdown that is getting the tennis world just as excited.
The American is in fine form and reached the finals of both Stuttgart and Halle this month. He was a Wimbledon semi-finalist last year.
But Jack Draper has just made an explosive comeback down at Eastbourne under the careful guidance of Sir Andy Murray.
They will believe anything is possible, especially with Jack’s appetite and ambition still as high as ever.
Meanwhile Emma Raducanu will have it tough if she is fit enough to play – and not just because she is due to start against Antonia Ruzic.
