Jack Draper on Comeback Trail in Time for Wimbledon 2026

June 23, 2026
Jack Draper has been savouring that winning feeling again. And with fellow Brit Sir Andy Murray in his camp, anything is possible.
The young superstar has been out for months with an arm injury. But now he is warming up on the Eastbourne grass in time for the main event next week.
Jack Draper will be highly motivated to make a huge impact at his home Grand Slam – Wimbledon 2026.
And Brits are excited to see Draper with Murray in the build-up to a major the Scot memorably won twice.
Jack beat lucky loser Marcos Giron 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the first round of the Eastbourne Open. He looked powerful and hungry for more.
Next up is fellow Brit, Jack Pinnington Jones in the round of sixteen. And these low-key grass court matches are perfect to help Draper shake off the ring-rust.
He explained: ‘Incredibly excited to be back out here again. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to play the grass.
‘It’s been an incredibly difficult year with certain physical bits, but to be here is special. I’ve given myself another opportunity in the second round to play better.
‘Hopefully I can build some momentum in my mind and body.’
Draper and Sir Andy have always had a fun relationship. The underlying respect is there – but you wouldn’t always know it.
‘I haven’t called him “Sir” yet,’ joked Jack. ‘That’s not going to happen. But Andy is truthfully one of my biggest inspiratons.
‘To have him there, not only as a coach but also as a mentor, is special. He believes in me and he believes in my tennis – and that’s a big boost.’
Jack Draper would dearly love to emulate Sir Andy Murray by winning Wimbledon 2026 against the odds.
For now, he will settle for the thrill of just being there. How about you? Are you coming to the greatest sporting show on earth next week?
