Mirra Andreeva and Alexander Zverev Are Top Seeds Left in Paris
Roland Garros
June 4, 2026
Mirra Andreeva may be favourite to lift the title at Roland Garros after Aryna Sabalenka’s shocking exit at Roland Garros.
But here at Wimbledon Debenture Holders, we wouldn’t be at all surprised if Ukrainian hot-shot Marta Kostyuk takes down Andreeva in the first of today’s Roland Garros semi-finals.
And we think the likeable Diana Shnaider could be waiting in the final to try and pull off another upset – if she can defeat the amazing qualifier Maja Chwalinska in the second semi.
In reality, women’s tennis is never predictable. But at Wimbledon Debenture Holders we’re pretty sure that you can discount Aryna Sabalenka’s emotional threat to quit tennis after her loss to Shnaider.
Mirra Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka will still be looking to go deep at Wimbledon 2026 when it starts at the end of this month.
Shnaider won ten games in a row to defeat Sabalenka, who looked home and dry at 4-1 up in the second set.
The way Sabalenka crumbled in the decider is still unfathomable. But happy Shnaider didn’t care as she romped home 3-6, 7-5, 6-0.
Meanwhile Poland’s surprise package Chwalinska has evoked memories of Emma Raducanu at Flushing Meadows by going all the way from qualification to the business end of a Grand Slam.
She beat a misfiring Anna Kalinskaya 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. But we think Shnaider will have too much next time out.
Here at Wimbledon Debenture Holders the feeling is that the eventual men’s champion will come from the semi-final showdown between Sascha Zverev and Jakub Mensik.
And although Zverev is heavy favourite on paper, we believe Mensik has an equal chance of making it through to the showpiece on Sunday.
In the all-Italian semi-final, we have Flavio Cobolli as clear favourite to take down Matteo Arnaldi – but then lose the final itself.
Mirra Andreeva and Alexander Zverev may feel the mounting pressure on their shoulders as they try to land their first Grand Slam titles.
It will be fascinating to see how the psychological battles play out at Roland Garros over the next few days.
And then we have the biggest major of them all to enjoy – Wimbledon 2026!
