Jannik Sinner Makes More History For His Adoring Fans

Jannik Sinner is threatening to become so good that he may even eclipse the great Novak Djokovic one day.

Of course, the Italian has a long way to go. But in one sense at least, he already matches up favourably against the legendary Serb.

Sinner’s simple and predictable 6-4, 6-4 win over Casper Ruud in Rome not only sent the Italians into raptures. It meant more rewriting of the history books.

Jannik is the first Italian man to win this title in 50 years. Adriano Panatta was the last to taste glory way back in 1976.

The world number one seems to take another giant step almost every week.

Jannik Sinner may even have secured his Career Slam by the time he comes to Wimbledon 2026, at this rate.

His Italian Open triumph means he moves on to Roland Garros with his confidence sky-high.

Sinner becomes only the second man to win all nine Masters 1000 events. Novak Djokovic was the first.

But amazingly Jannik has achieved his extraordinary feat at the age of just 24. Djokovic needed to play most of his career to complete the set at the age of 31.

Sinner has also won a record 34 consecutive Masters 1000 matches, leaving most opponents almost feeling beaten before they have started.

And from having felt insecure on clay until relatively recently, Sinner now joins Rafael Nadal as the only two superstars to sweep all three clay-court Masters 1000 titles in a single season.

Not even the great Djokovic can claim he ever did that – although he had Nadal to contend with most of the time, of course.

No wonder most people are predicting that Sinner will win Roland Garros this year to continue his stunning clay-court run.

Jannik Sinner might just be vulnerable at Wimbledon 2026 as a result of all this perfection on clay, though.

He may be slightly drained by the sheer number of matches he has had to play this year – and the lack of time to recuperate.

Could Carlos Alcaraz be back and fresher for Wimbledon fortnight on grass? Time will tell how their rivalry unfolds this time around in London.
