Sebastian Korda Stuns Carlos Alcaraz in Miami Classic

March 23, 2026

Sebastian Korda took in the biggest win of his career by placing the face of his racquet gently on his head.

That racquet had unleashed some powerful magic against the world number one – even when it appeared the tables had turned.

And the enormity of this achievement in his own back yard clearly wasn’t lost on the 25-year-old, who allowed himself the broadest of smiles.

Sebastian Korda’s extraordinary victory over Carlos Alcaraz in Miami raises the possibility of yet another American going deep at Wimbledon 2026, too.

Florida-born Korda was very much on home ground for this particular act of giant-killing. But it should give him confidence to execute an audacious game plan on any surface.

Sebi hasn’t been past the fourth round at Wimbledon so far. But this amazing moment against Alcaraz represents an important breakthrough.

It was a moment that appeared to have passed him by. Sebastian Korda was 5-3 up in the second set and soon served for the match. Carlitos won the next four games to equalise.

With that shift in momentum, no one would have predicted that Korda would be the one to dominate the final set. But he did.

Sebastian Korda’s 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 stunner against Carlos Alcaraz means anything is possible at Wimbledon 2026!

And there will be so much American talent on show at the Championships in London. Taylor Fritz just tamed Reilly Opelka, who had in turn knocked Jack Draper out of Miami.

Jessica Pegula is through to the round of 16 in Florida – and so is Coco Gauff. Another American, Hailey Baptiste is also there after engineering an upset of her own against Elina Svitolina.

That’s just the latest snapshot of the in-form American hopefuls coming to London this summer.

Sebastian Korda may finally have come of age – and that’s great news for world tennis. His dashing stroke play is a sight to behold.

He said of this landmark win: ‘I had to be aggressive. I had to take the ball out of his hand and take the point in my favour.’

Korda used his booming serve to the full – and an exquisite volleying technique as he advanced. That courageous strategy certainly had its effect.

At one stage Alcaraz was heard uncharacteristically telling his team: ‘I can’t take it any more. I’m going home, man. I can’t take it any more.’

Later Carlitos admitted: ‘He was incredible today. There were a lot of tight moments and he was better in those situations.’

Sebastian Korda and Carlos Alcaraz will experience plenty more tight moments at Wimbledon 2026.
