Novak Djokovic Makes More History with 100th Aussie Open Win
Australian Open
January 19, 2026
Novak Djokovic looked as lean and agile as ever. History had come calling – and he did not disappoint.
Neither was the manner of this one hundredth Australian Open victory anything but emphatic and stylish.
Spectacular diagonal forehand and backhand winners at crucial moments. Fireworks behind a dependable serve that was foiled just five times all match.
The Serb dispatched his Spanish opponent, Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 with dipping winners and consummate ease.
You suspect this won’t be his last win in Melbourne. Nothing about Novak’s performance gave his next opponent, Francesco Maestrelli grounds for optimism.
And Djokovic already has 102 victories at Wimbledon and 101 at Roland Garros. He’ll want to build his Aussie total up and beyond the other two for now.
Novak Djokovic will doubtless add to his impressive total of Grand Slam wins at Wimbledon 2026 as well!
And by the time he reaches the All England Club, he will probably have passed his current attendance total of 81 Grand Slam tournaments as a competitor.
That equals the records of Roger Federer and Feliciano Lopez, who must know they will be left behind this year – despite Roger’s fun exhibition matches in the opening ceremony.
Novak is still playing for real – and that’s an extraordinary achievement in itself. The fact that we can’t entirely write off his quest for further titles is even more remarkable.
‘History-making is a real motivation,’ he admitted. ‘Particularly in the last five or ten years.
‘I’m blessed to be playing at this level. Making another win here is obviously a dream come true. Nice feeling to be a centurion.’
Novak Djokovic will come to Wimbledon 2026 as the greatest player of all time, still able to create moments of pure magic.
