Jannik Sinner has just won back-to-back year-end finals – and stretched his unbeaten run on indoor hard courts to an amazing thirty-one matches!

He didn’t lose a set in Turin – though he was a point away from losing the first to Carlos Alcaraz in this explosive final.

As usual when these two superstars do battle, the tennis was superb. Both sets swayed this way and that. But Sinner was simply too highly motivated to fail at the death in front of his own crowd.

Jannik closed out 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 – and fell flat on his back with the sheer relief of satisfying the great expectations of his compatriots.

Alcaraz had already secured the year-end number one crown. He had won the US Open too, and the French at the start of the European summer.

Sinner takes the ATP Finals to go with Australia and Wimbledon. Could this epic rivalry possibly be more perfectly balanced?

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will take their magical rivalry right back to Centre Court at Wimbledon 2026 in a few months, you suspect.

How lucky we will feel! And no one can safely predict who will win at Wimbledon 2026, should they meet once more in the final there.

Jannik Sinner could not have done these last few months alone. He hinted at the importance of the comradeship that carries him through the worst times.

Sinner said of this triumph: ‘It represents not only tennis. We are individual athletes but I couldn’t do it without my team. To do this after such an intense couple of months. It means everything.

‘It was a very intense and close match-up. I was serving well at times – but he is one of the best returners in the game – if not the best. It means the world to me. It means the world to finish the year like this, it’s amazing.’

Alcaraz said: ‘I’m really happy with the level of my performance – but I just lost to someone who hasn’t lost indoors for two years.

‘I’m going to have a good rest and be ready to play you in more finals next year!’

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will take their incredible rivalry to new levels in the New Year. They always push each other to greater heights. We will see this phenomenon again no doubt at Wimbledon 2026.
