Taylor Fritz Will Meet Carlos Alcaraz in Wimbledon 2025 semis

Taylor Fritz secured one of the greatest achievements of his career – minutes after suffering some of the strangest moments.
The American has followed up on his Eastbourne triumph with a sparkling run all the way to the Wimbledon 2025 semi-finals.
His reward is to do battle with the most talented grass court player in the world today – a young man who also happens to be reigning Wimbledon champion.
Taylor Fritz against Carlos Alcaraz should provide us with a classic semi-final showdown at Wimbledon 2025!
But Fritz was rattled by Karen Khachanov in the third set of their quarter-final clash – to such an extent that the favourite could barely do anything right.
Fritz admitted later: ‘I never had a match flip so quickly. I felt like I couldn’t miss – and then I was making a ton of mistakes.’
Fortunately Taylor recovered from that blip to take the contest 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4).
He recalled: ‘I had to break back in the fourth and I’m really proud of the way I came back. It’s an amazing feeling [to reach the semis].
‘Having played the quarters twice and lost in five twice, I don’t think I could have taken another one.’
Taylor Fritz can’t afford a dip in form at any stage against Carlos Alcaraz. Not if he is to stage a massive upset and reach the Wimbledon 2025 final.
Carlitos cruised through against Cameron Norrie with consummate ease. The Spaniard was so brilliant, the Brit could barely make a match of it.
Alcaraz was able to conserve plenty of energy for the Fritz fight by winning 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.
But another American is in the mix at the business end of Wimbledon 2025. The amazing Amanda Anisimova defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova by a dramatic 6-1, 7-6 (11-9).
That marathon breaker shouldn’t have been necessary for Anisimova, who could have ended it long before the shoot-out.
And she too will know that she’ll have to be more ruthless against her next adversary – the fearsome Aryna Sabalenka.
The American could still pull off a shock in that semi-final, however. Sabalenka was in big trouble against German outsider Laura Siegemund before she edged through 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Taylor Fritz and Amanda Anisimova will fly the American flag in the final stages at Wimbledon 2025. Ben Shelton will join them if he beats Jannik Sinner on Wednesday.
