Cameron Norrie Faces Carlos Alcaraz as Americans Progress
Wimbledon
July 7, 2025
Cameron Norrie tossed away his racquet and took an extra roll on the Wimbledon grass.
After four hours and twenty-seven minutes of dramatic tennis combat, Norrie had finally seen off the stubborn Chilean, Nicolas Jarry.
His reward is a quarter-final showdown with the reigning Wimbledon champion.
Cameron Norrie must enjoy every moment of the ultimate grass court test against Carlos Alcaraz.
And even though he should have beaten Jarry in three sets and only eventually went through in a marathon 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (7-9), 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 extravaganza, enjoyment was still the key.
Not for Jarry, who was driven to distraction by Norrie’s incessant ball-bouncing between his first and second serve.
But the Brit has rediscovered his own missing ingredient – simple boyish fun. And it has returned to his game at just the right time.
Norrie explained: ‘At the beginning of the year I was struggling with my confidence and had some doubts.. I needed to enjoy my tennis more – and I did that today. The crowd was amazing and the atmosphere was so good.’
Imagine what that atmosphere will be like against Alcaraz then!
Cameron Norrie – with the home fans behind him – against the super-popular Alcaraz is likely to have Centre Court rocking at Wimbledon 2025!
Carlitos is already relishing the occasion after his immensely entertaining 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over hard-hitting Andrey Rublev.
And ominously Alcaraz is starting to find his best form at just the right time as we reach the business end of Wimbledon 2025.
The Spaniard said: ‘I’m gonna play against another British player so I’m gonna enjoy it as much as I can.
‘Every time I step on this beautiful court, it’s a gift. It’s going to be really difficult. I know Cam – and he is playing great.’
American superstar Taylor Fritz is playing great too. And he can recharge his batteries after a 6-1, 3-0 walkover against Jeremy Thompson.
Next Fritz will face a sterner test against big-serving Karen Khachanov. But Taylor will be up to the task if he brings his A-game.
Taylor Fritz in the Wimbledon semi-finals would become the hottest ticket in town.
And another American dreaming of glory at Wimbledon 2025 is Amanda Anisimova. She will play Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in an equally winnable quarter-final.
Wimbledon 2025 is edging towards what promises to be a scintillating climax. Will you be there to see who triumphs?
