The 35-year-old Midlander defeated Tommy Paul, a former Queen’s champion 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
The American is still likely to go deeper than Evans at Wimbledon 2025 – but you just never know.
Enjoyment is the key, even with these elite performers. And Evans can go into the Championships entirely free of pressure, while knowing he still has something special.
First he beat Frances Tiafoe at Queen’s. Now he has downed Tommy Paul at Eastbourne. The Americans won’t want to draw Evans early on at the All England Club.

It’s not that his game is particularly explosive. Dan the Man only fired seventeen winners as he overcame Paul.
But he made fewer unforced errors – 26 to Tommy’s 43. Playing a game of patience did the damage anyway.
Dan Evans has the slice, agility and all-round court craft of a much younger man when he is enjoying the fight. He summoned the ruthlessness too, when it mattered.
The intriguing Englishman explained: ‘I felt good serving for the match. I just said to myself, “enjoy this.”
‘I stopped worrying about what he was doing, and I played good tennis in the end. I know I have done the work.
‘Once I got confidence, the work was in the bank. If you’re ready and the door opens, you will walk through it.’
He takes on yet another American, Jenson Brooksby in the Eastbourne quarter-finals later today. But in a sense Evans has already enjoyed the right preparations for the big one.
Dan Evans is ready to use his Wimbledon 2025 wild card to show the world what he can do at his home Grand Slam one last time.
And there are always shocks on the cards at Wimbledon. Evans will hope that delicious reality plays on the minds of more illustrious opponents.
