Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper are two of the biggest superstars in tennis right now.
And both men have scored straight sets victories at Queen’s as they find their feet on grass.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper will both receive rapturous welcomes on Centre Court at Wimbledon 2025.
But for now they are getting into their stride up the road in West London.
Jack Draper loved the acclaim of his home crowd. He said this of the English capital and the reaction he got: ‘It feels amazing. There’s no place I’d rather be. Playing on this court in front of my people and my family! Thank you.’
Draper wasn’t entirely pleased with his first set against Jenson Brooksby – but he came through emphatically enough 6-3, 6-1.
He said: ‘It’s always tricky coming back onto the grass after clay. But the more matches I play on this surface the better – and the crowd helps. I feel confident. I feel ready. I want to do my best.’
Meanwhile Alcaraz seemed to be every bit as popular after his incredible French Open victory over Jannik Sinner.
No marathon was necessary to defeat Australia’s Adam Walton. However, the underdog from Down Under did come very close to giving us a third and deciding set in the Andy Murray Arena.
But Alcaraz got ruthless when it mattered – and won 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) with a beautiful flat forehand clincher.
He said later: ‘I’m very happy to be back in London again – and playing on grass. And thank you for the warm welcome!
‘The first match on grass is never easy – so thank you for helping a little bit. He had more experience on grass than me this year coming into the match. So I’m very happy with my performance.’
Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper are already creating a huge buzz of expectation ahead of Wimbledon 2025.
