Carlos Alcaraz is back with a bang after being crowned for the first time in Monte Carlo.
The Comeback Kid had already won through twice after losing the first set in Monaco.
So it proved once more against Lorenzo Musetti – although this time an injury to the Italian definitely helped the Spaniard’s cause in what became a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 romp.
Perhaps the quarter-final classic against Arthur Fils was the way we should best remember this march to glory.
Alcaraz had to play sensational tennis to bounce back and claim that one 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. The entertainment levels were staggering.
Carlos Alcaraz could make it a hat-trick of All England Club triumphs at Wimbledon 2025 if he maintains this kind of form.
Plenty of rivals will try to stop him. England’s Jack Draper will be out to capitalise on any slow start Alcaraz makes if they clash at Wimbledon 2025.
But for now “Carlitos” can savour his return to winning ways after an indifferent year overall by his very high standards.
Alcaraz explained: ‘I’m really happy to win Monte Carlo for the first time. It has been a really difficult week with a lot of difficult situations.
‘I’m proud with the way I dealt with everything. But it’s not the way I would have wanted to win the match.’
Can Carlos Alcaraz take this natural comfort on clay all the way to Roland Garros to defend his title there too?
He has already shown that it is possible to win the French Open and Wimbledon in quick succession.
