Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage secured the vital victory to send Great Britain through to the Billie Jean King Cup finals in September.
They defeated Suzan Lamens and Demi Schuurs 6-2, 6-2 to prevail over the Netherlands on clay when it really mattered.
And that doubles drama completed a rollercoaster cup run for Boulter over the last few days.
Katie Boulter is sure to provide fresh thrills and spills at Wimbledon 2025 as well.
She was certainly an unpredictable force at times against the Netherlands in the all-important qualifier.
But she is generally a safe bet to come good for her country at the key moments – and so it proved.
The drama began for Boulter against Germany when she was crushed by Tatjana Maria in their first set on clay.
But once Katie had adapted properly to the surface, she stormed back to earn a precious 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory for her team.
New sensation Sonay Kartal did the rest to set up Saturday’s showdown with the Dutch.
That’s where things went temporarily wrong for Boulter. Trying to capitalise on yet another heroic Kartal triumph, Katie failed to close out the tie.
Instead she allowed world number 70 Lamens to level with a rather unlikely 6-4, 6-3 win.
But GB boss Anne Keothavong retained faith in Boulter for the deciding match – and was rewarded with glory.
Keothavong explained: ‘Every captain wants a Katie Boulter on their team. After the disappointment of her singles she responded remarkably well.
‘We knew doubles was going to be important this week. And I don’t think Katie has ever done so much doubles practice in her life.’
Katie Boulter won’t be the only big-name Brit on show at Wimbledon 2025. Emma Raducanu will be desperate to do well there too.
