Chris Eubanks Is Big Surprise For America At Wimbledon 2023

Chris Eubanks is the American taking Wimbledon 2023 by storm.
We might have expected Taylor Fritz to be the man flying the flag with all his big-time experience.
But instead the surprising story is the remarkable progress of Eubanks.
This was the guy who was ready to give up playing tennis for a career in the commentary box if he didn;t start making an impact.
‘It’s not that glamorous ranked around 200,’ he admitted recently.
Well it’s always glamorous at Wimbledon – especially when you go on a winning run no one saw coming.
Eubanks is the man who feels he owes so much to ex-player Kim Clijsters that he has offered her some of his prize money.
‘If she asks, she’s gonna get it,’ he said. ‘I think she’s a big contributing factor to some of my success. She kept my spirits up and kept me fresh.’
She won’t accept any financial reward, of course. But the caring Belgian told Chris his footwork needed extra attention if he was going to do well on grass.
Chris Eubanks listened and he never gave up. Now he has a dream showdown with Stefanos Tsitsipas as a sparkling reward at Wimbledon 2023.
The world has underestimated the journeyman 27-year-old, who is starting to capture all our hearts.
No one expected him to beat top Brit Cameron Norrie on No1 Court in the second round.
After all, Eubanks doesn’t usually go beyond the first or second round at any Grand Slam.
But the dream run at Wimbledon 2023 continued when he beat Australia’s Chris O’Connell in the third round, thanks to three brilliantly executed tie-breaks.
Eubanks must be pinching himself at the thought of a mouth-watering contest against the awesome Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 16 tomorrow.
You wouldn’t expect the American to stand much of a chance against the god-like Greek.
Chris Eubanks has upset the odds at Wimbledon 2023 already, though.
So we’ll just look forward to the clash and enjoy what unfolds.
It’s been a wonderful story for likeable Eubanks already. Who knows where it will end?
