Andy Murray Prepares For Wimbledon 2023 With Good Win

Roland Garros

June 5, 2023

Andy Murray swiped a delicious cross-court forehand to secure his first win on London grass in 2023.

As he took the applause of the Surbiton crowd, you sensed this might just be the start of something big.

Grass is Murray’s favourite surface and Wimbledon 2023 is just weeks away.

The Scot believes he can still go deep – and perhaps even win his third Wimbledon title.

Andy Murray’s last big adventure at Wimbledon 2023 promises to be something truly special!

Come and enjoy his journey – because he certainly means business!

That opening win at Surbiton on Monday was a 6-3, 6-2 romp against Chung Hyeon, who has only played a handful of matches since 2020.

Even so, you had to be impressed by the way Andy served. And if he enjoys such an effective technical base at Wimbledon 2023, he will be able to worry the very best of them.

Murray admitted: ‘I would fancy myself against a lot of them. Last year I won against Nick Kyrgios, who made the final of Wimbledon.

‘I won against Stefanos Tsitsipas. I know it’s not his favourite surface but he is one of the best players in the world. And I was a set all against Matteo Berrettini in Stuttgart before I got injured.

‘I’m playing better this year than last year. I still want to win, I want to compete and see how hard I can push by body. I want to see how far I can go.’

Imagine Andy Murray doing battle on Centre Court in the final stages of Wimbledon 2023!

To be part of such an occasion at the greatest Grand Slam of them all creates a memory that lasts a lifetime.

Another player really enjoying herself is Coco Gauff in Paris.

Last year’s Roland Garros finalist has reached the quarter-finals this year with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

The American did get annoyed when she let a 5-2 first-set lead slip. But she soon adjusted her tactics.

Gauff said: ‘It’s really windy on this court so I decided to hit through the ball. I didn’t expect it to be this windy. But it’s pretty windy where I live in Florida, so that’s no excuse.

‘J’aime jouer a Paris! And I eat chocolate cake for breakfast here. It’s Paris, what the hell?’

It’s great to hear Coco so happy with her Grand Slam experiences. She considers Wimbledon to be her “garden” too.
