Emma Raducanu is ready to entertain in London this weekend.
The Royal Albert Hall will play host to tennis for the last time and give British fans the chance to salute their US Open champion.
The tournament is called “Champions of Tennis.” Former British number one Greg Rusedski and Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic will also play.
The event runs from November 25 to 28 and also features legends such as David Ferrer, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Tomas Berdych and Marcos Baghdatis among others.
Emma Raducanu will provide the highlight when she plays on Sunday afternoon.
The atmosphere will give just a hint of the amazing reception she is sure to receive at Wimbledon 2022.
Her opponent will be a Romanian who acted as her sparring partner at the Transylvania Open recently.
Elena-Gabriela Ruse is world number 85 and will provide a proper test. She won the Hamburg Open and reached the final at Palermo this year.
But Raducanu is world number 19 and possesses enough quality to shine in front of an adoring home crowd.
She posted on twitter: ‘So excited to be playing in front of a home crowd this weekend @ChampionsTennis, an event I would go to watch as a young kid. Also to see some legends go head-to-head at the Royal Albert Hall.’
Raducanu will play not before 1pm and her match will be finished by 5pm.
Last week she posted a photograph of a moment of triumph at last year’s Wimbledon.
Raducanu clearly has ambitions to go deep at Wimbledon 2022.
She wrote beneath that picture: ‘I feel I can put in great work together with my team, with patience I believe we’ll get there.’
Recently Raducanu appointed a new coach, Torben Beltz. The German helped former Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber to great things and has the experience Emma was looking for.
The Bromley star has enjoyed opportunities to rest. But her year won’t finish when the curtain comes down at the Royal Albert Hall.
She will play the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi. That competition starts on December 16 and finishes on December 18.
Andy Murray will also feature there as some of the big names warm up for Australia.
Raducanu began the year unknown to most. She ends 2021 a Grand Slam champion and multi-millionaire.
It’s a lot to take in for the teenager. But we are all behind her as she finds her feet once more.
Soon the 2022 season will be upon us.
And before we know it, Wimbledon 2022 will be here!
