Will you join us?
Here we go! Looking back at Wimbledon 2025 in reverse order:
10: Catherine, Princess of Wales Consoles Anisimova
Amanda Anisimova has just been thrashed 6-0, 6-0 by Iga Swiatek in the women’s final. But Catherine, Princess of Wales made the tearful runner-up feel better with her words of comfort. Cancer survivor “Kate” will have known exactly how to put temporary sporting humiliation into perspective. And Anisimova will come roaring back at Wimbledon 2026!
9: Marin Cilic Shocks Jack Draper
It wasn’t what the home crowds wanted to see, but former Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic certainly earned respect for his unlikely four-set win over British favourite Jack Draper in the second round of Wimbledon 2025. ‘One of the toughest losses, I feel,’ said Draper. But here’s the thing: that defeat will motivate likeable Jack to go deep when it comes to Wimbledon 2026!
8. Carlos Alcaraz Edges Taylor Fritz in a Thrilling Semi-final
This was a sparkling match on Centre Court, worthy of the occasion in every way. Indeed it looked as though the brave American could take the match into a final set – and really test the champion’s resolve. Fritz led 6-4 in the fourth-set tie-break. But incredible Alcaraz simply raised his level when it really mattered to win the next four points and close out a glittering contest.
7. Iga Swiatek’s Secret Recipe to Win Wimbledon
It was a strangely pivotal moment. Iga Swiatek had just beaten Danielle Collins when she gave a super-fun interview about how her favourite dish was pasta with strawberries. Suddenly she looked entirely relaxed on Centre Court – a place she had previously struggled. It was only round three. But suddenly we felt she could win Wimbledon – and we said so. That proved to be the case.
6. Lorenzo Sonego Outlasts Brandon Nakashima
It took a marathon five hours and four minutes for the Italian to prevail in this Wimbledon thriller. If it’s exhausting to write the 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 7-6 (10-3) score line, imagine what the players went through! This epic involved 61 games and 387 points before the result was decided. Wimbledon always produces amazing drama! And 2026 will do the same!
5. Amanda Anisimova Stuns Aryna Sabalenka
Many people thought Wimbledon 2025 would be Aryna’s year. She looked fiercely unstoppable. Then Sabalenka ran into the extraordinary power and talent of the rising American, Amanda Anisimova. The 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 score line sounds normal enough. But it doesn’t convey the passion and magnificence of young Anisimova on the day. She will learn from her final heartbreak too.
4. Emma Raducanu Against Sabalenka on Centre Court
This memorable occasion under the lights on Centre Court was everything that makes Wimbledon so special. Home favourite Raducanu played some lights-out tennis to raise the roof and send the Wimbledon crowd into a frenzy. Sabalenka eventually edged it 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. But she admitted: ‘I had to fight for every point like crazy.’ There was no place we’d rather have been.
3. Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool Make British History
There were British winners on a packed Centre Court at Wimbledon 2025. Cash and Glasspool became the first all-British pair to win the Men’s Doubles title at Wimbledon since 1936. They achieved it with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win over Rinky Hijikata and David Pel. The emotional moment Cash sent down the clinching smash will live long in the memory of those who were there.
2. Jannik Sinner Lifts His First Wimbledon Title
When Carlos Alcaraz appeared to show superior nerve to win the first set of this classic final, you wondered whether Jannik Sinner would ever prevail on grass. But then the Italian overcame every physical, psychological and technical challenge thrown at him to show a cool ruthlessness when it mattered. His 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory leaves the rivalry perfectly poised for all the drama at Wimbledon 2026.
1. Grigor Dimitrov Dramatically Denied Glory over Sinner
This may not be everyone’s top choice – but we like to think outside the box! For sheer drama and importance, this was the key moment of Wimbledon 2025. Grigor Dimitrov was two sets up against a shattered Jannik Sinner in the round of sixteen. He unleashed an ace to hold serve for 2-2 in the third – but also a stifled yelp with the sudden pain it caused. Grigor had torn a pectoral muscle and had to retire. Sinner showed compassion – and went on to win Wimbledon. Beat that for twists and turns of outrageous fortune!
So that was the human and sporting drama of Wimbledon 2025. What will Wimbledon 2026 bring? We just know there will be more unique history made at the most stylish and atmospheric sporting venue on earth.
