Amanda Anisimova Is Queen of Beijing with China Open Triumph

Locker Room

October 5, 2025

Amanda Anisimova took an extra roll so she could lie face down and hide her tears.

A crushing backhand deep into the corner and it was over. The China Open belonged to the brave American who tried, tried and tried again.

If at first you don’t succeed…just prove you’re unbreakable. Show you’re immune to the after-effects of sporting humiliation.

Amanda Anisimova won’t be found frozen and falling apart at Wimbledon 2026. She may well win it. And how we’ll salute her psychological growth if she does.

Amanda the Pushover doesn’t exist any more. That girl has gone. Someone stronger and more worldly wise has arrived.

She’s playing better tennis than anyone right now. And at last she realises it’s not enough to sit back and simply be happy to have reached the showpiece.

The reward for learning her lesson in the Far East was considerable. Victory completed the mental reset and brought a happy ending to the healing process. Joy and relief, final success after so much heartbreak.

To lose at Grand Slams must be so much harder with the trophy literally within touching distance. For Amanda, it was far worse than that in London.

To lose a Wimbledon final 0-6, 0-6 to Iga Swiatek in no time at all could have left permanent scars, so excruciating was her ordeal last summer.

Anisimova picked herself up, dusted herself down and went all the way to the US Open final as well.

There she lost in straight sets to Aryna Sabalenka, though at least the battle was more closely and keenly fought.

In Beijing, Anisimova came out with all guns blazing. She was determined not to be the bridesmaid this time around.

In fact she looked capable of doing to Linda Noskova what Swiatek had done to her on Centre Court a few months earlier.

The underdog rallied and tested the favourite’s nerve to the max. But Anisimova refused to be denied. She simply raised her game once more – and claimed her prize 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.

Amanda Anisimova and her beaming smile will be back at Wimbledon 2026. She’ll be determined to create a very different climax to the women’s tournament on the second Saturday.

Will you be there to follow the fortunes of the most impressive American in tennis right now?

Her very human story of fragility-turned-strong is truly gripping.

Wimbledon 2026 will be too.

Give our friendly staff a call and come to the most historic and glamorous Grand Slam of them all.

We can’t wait to see you in London.
