Carlos Alcaraz Wins US Open and Earns Number One Ranking

US Open

September 7, 2025

Carlos Alcaraz hit new heights to outclass world number one Jannik Sinner with a phenomenal display in the noisy Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Now the Spaniard is crowned tennis king once more. And how he deserved his revenge for the defeat on Wimbledon’s Centre Court a few weeks ago.

Carlitos was ever-gracious and said to Sinner: ‘It’s unbelievable what you have done the whole season. I see you more than my family! It’s great to share the court and locker room with you.

‘My team and family, I am lucky to have you around. The success I have is thanks to you and also yours.’

No tears in his moment of victory. Just sheer joy and humility. And joy is exactly what he had given Flushing Meadows and the entire world during this fortnight. How he is loved by everyone.

Carlos Alcaraz can entertain like no other. Sinner takes the breath away too. Wimbledon 2026 could play host to another extraordinary contest between these sporting supermen.

How we would love to see them clash again in London next summer. This Alcaraz triumph in New York somehow makes the rivalry even more fascinating. Sinner had seemed so perfect in recent times.

This was the outcome most of the crowd wanted – once they were belatedly allowed to their seats after rigorous security had delayed so many.

Chaotic yet wonderful, the US Open came to a crescendo with roars of approval ringing in the champion’s ears.

Carlitos had done it in style. He came out with all guns blazing and left Sinner struggling like never before.

To his credit, the Italian found some of his best tennis in the second set. We thought the match might go the distance.

But Alcaraz at his very best is better than Sinner at his very best. And make no mistake, we just saw Carlitos at his very best.

Incredible serving, free-flowing shots from both sides, deadly drop shots when the moment demanded. Power and poise gifted from the tennis gods.

Carlos Alcaraz witnessed up close and personal is an experience no one will ever forget. The speed of movement and instinctive genius almost defies description. Come and see him at Wimbledon 2026!

Sinner just saw magic up close and had no answer. Unforced errors and double faults betrayed the strain. Was he feeling that abdominal tweak from the semi-final? But what could Jannik have done against a 134mph serve anyway?

Jannik told his rival: ‘Congrats and enjoy. It’s a great moment. I tried my best and couldn’t do more.’

The Italian fought honourably and saved two match points. But Alcaraz kept his cool. And it was over in four sets.

The 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 score-line told an accurate story of the balance of power. But it couldn’t come near to conveying the breath-taking brilliance of this occasion.
