Emma Raducanu Plays Aryna Sabalenka, Fritz Wins Marathon

Wimbledon

July 3, 2025

Emma Raducanu can enjoy her Friday showdown with world number one Aryna Sabalenka free from pressure.

Wimbledon 2025 has been good to the Brits – and superstar Raducanu is leading the way now.

She played one of the matches of her life to defeat 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday.

And crucially Emma is enjoying the ride these days instead of feeling blinded by the spotlight.

Emma Raducanu will need to come out with all guns blazing against the powerful Sabalenka on Friday.

And if she can put a few doubts in the mind of the favourite, you never know what might happen.

Emma will certainly relish coming in as underdog. She said: ‘I’m just so happy I get to play another match here.

‘Aryna is number one in the world. She is so dominant. She has won literally everything. I’m just so happy with how I performed. I guess there’s no pressure at all on me.’

And there was no pressure on another Brit, Ollie Tarvet when he faced reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court.

The plucky qualifier came alive in the second set against the world’s greatest grass court player. The Centre Court crowd roared in disbelief as unknown Ollie broke the superstar and established a 2-0 lead.

There were times in that middle set when Tarvet made the Spaniard look ordinary. But Carlitos had an extra gear when it really mattered.

Alcaraz triumphed 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to keep his dream of a hat-trick of Wimbledon titles alive.

Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz are grabbing plenty of attention at Wimbledon 2025 as their story continues!

And American Taylor Fritz is still in the fight too – although he is certainly doing it the hard way.

Fritz has now played a crazy 109 games already at Wimbledon 2025 – and he has only faced two matches so far.

Back-to-back five-setters so soon after winning Eastbourne mean that Taylor desperately needs a day of rest of Thursday to recharge the batteries.

How about you? Would a beautiful day at Wimbledon 2025 do the trick? Come and join the party.
