Emma Raducanu Must Find Right Mindset for Wimbledon 2025

Wimbledon

June 25, 2025

Emma Raducanu must find a way to rise above all the pressures and distractions in the build-up to Wimbledon 2025.

If she can simply go out and enjoy today’s match against Maya Joint, that will be mission accomplished.

Her chances of winning are no better than even, after the Australian took down Ons Jabeur in the previous round in Eastbourne.

Maya Joint is only nineteen – and the world number 51 seems to have gone into breakthrough mode.

But it might be no bad thing if Emma Raducanu exits the warm-up tournament early.

Emma Raducanu needs to recharge her batteries both mentally and physically ahead of Wimbledon 2025.

There were tears of relief after her gutsy 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-1 victory over American Ann Li in her opener. The emotional release hinted at various pressures off the court.

Firstly, Emma has a back injury to nurse through the rest of the grass court season. At times, painkillers have already been necessary recently.

Then there is the ongoing speculation about the nature of her friendship with reigning Wimbledon men’s champion, Carlos Alcaraz.

News that they will form a mixed doubles partnership at the US Open – and the added “coincidence” of a few near-simultaneous arrivals at tennis venues – have sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

More concerning to Raducanu are indications that a stalker – who has been banned from WTA tennis venues – is apparently still trying to get close to her.

Emma Raducanu must attempt to put all the emotional, physical and psychological challenges to one side in the days to come. Only then can she give her best at Wimbledon 2025.

Enjoyment is the key. And Raducanu had been finding plenty of reasons to smile on court of late. At least her partnership with coach Mark Petchey appears to be pressure-free and productive in its simplicity.

And Petchey will be telling Raducanu to block out all the distractions and natural concerns. Emma’s home Grand Slam only comes round once a year, after all.

She needs to savour Wimbledon 2025 – and enjoy every moment. Keeping expectations relatively low will help her.

The former US Open champion is capable of making the second week of Wimbledon 2025 – if things go her way. Carrying the world on her shoulders definitely won’t help.

Wimbledon 2025 is just days away. Will you be there to enjoy London’s greatest sporting occasion? Your tickets can be secured with a phone call to our friendly staff.
