Amanda Anisimova and Taylor Fritz Reach Grass Court Finals

Amanda Anisimova has defeated her Chinese nemesis Qinwen Zheng at Queen’s.
And now she faces Tatjana Maria, who edged Madison Keys in the semi-finals in London.
The big final in the English capital on Sunday promises to be a cracker. A perfect grass court warm-up for Anisimova, the American who reached the Wimbledon quarters in 2022.
But another American is showing great promise too. Taylor Fritz beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at the Boss Open.
Now he must get ready for a huge showdown with the formidable German, Alexander Zverev on Sunday.
Amanda Anisimova and Taylor Fritz will go into Wimbledon 2025 with great confidence now.
Whatever happens in their respective finals, they know they can still perform admirably on this tricky surface.
Fritz will remember just how recently he has shone on grass. He has been a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon twice in the last three years.
But Taylor also knows in his heart he has what it takes to go even deeper at the All England Club. He may even have his eyes on the title itself!
Amanda Anisimova’s next opponent at Queen’s is a serious contender too. She made the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2022.
And the fact that Tatjana Maria is a 37-year-old mother of two seems to present no hindrance to her progress on court at all!
But 23-year-old Anisimova is also riding a wave right now after smashing through a mental barrier against Qinwen Zheng.

Anisimova is growing stronger with each passing month. Twice at the end of last year, Amanda won the first set but lost in three to the same rival.
When Zheng finally took the lead in the decider at Queen’s, recent history seemed to be repeating itself.
But Anisimova held sway and fell on her back in sheer delight when victory was finally secured 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
She said later: ‘I’m really excited to be in a grass court final. It’s going to be a great final against Tatjana, whose family is so cute.
‘I’ve never had a win over Qinwen Zheng before. She always raises her game after the first set but I stayed composed. I love playing in London.’
American tennis fans have even more incentive to come to Wimbledon 2025 now. Anisimova and Fritz are on fire. Both love London.
