Lois Boisson Is Living the Parisian Dream at Roland Garros
Roland Garros
June 4, 2025
Lois Boisson lay on the clay of the Court Philippe-Chatrier and hid her face in disbelief.
The French sensation will play Coco Gauff in the semi-finals of her home Grand Slam.
And with Coco less than impressive during her victory over her compatriot Madison Keys, you wouldn’t necessarily bet against the rank outsider reaching the final!
The fairy tale is still alive for the world number 361 after she defeated the much-celebrated teenager, Mirra Andreeva 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.
The 22-year-old had to come from behind in both sets. But the vast crowd wouldn’t have had it any other way.
“Lois, Lois!” they cheered. The youngster cupped her ears and played to the acclaim.
Lois Boisson and her Roland Garros journey is a reminder of what could be possible for Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon 2025.
Emma has already won a Grand Slam, after all. But for now let’s just enjoy the minor sporting miracle in Paris.
Coco Gauff will have to serve better to defeat the home favourite in their showdown on Thursday.
There were double faults aplenty and too many unforced errors from one of Wimbledon’s favourite women.
Luckily for Coco, she could rely on her fighting spirit and the fact that Australian Open champion Madison Keys was even more out of sorts.
Gauff ultimately triumphed 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-1. But it wasn’t pretty – and she knows she will have to do better to win through and take the title.
Lois Boisson won’t have seen anything from the American to make her feel too afraid. Besides, she is too wrapped up in her own story.
‘This is incredible,’ she said. ‘To have the crowd cheering for me like this, it’s beyond description.’
Lois will now be sure to attract plenty of attention at Wimbledon 2025 too, if she gets to play there in a few weeks.
They will have to let her take part at Wimbledon after this performance in Paris, won’t they?
Whatever drama unfolds, you can be sure there’ll be shocks galore and heroes old and new.
