Stefanos Tsitsipas is back with a bang after it appeared his tennis career was starting to fade away.
‘They said my game was sinking – so I got myself a boat,’ was how he put it.
The Greek Adonis is famous for his philosophical musings on social media – and for going out with WTA star Paula Badosa.
But despite winning the year-end finals as a youngster, Stefanos has reached the age of 26 without claiming a major.
And Tsitsipas had lost all eleven of his ATP 500 finals before last weekend. This time he held his nerve in Dubai to beat Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-3.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will be desperate to impress his huge London following at Wimbledon 2025 too.
And Novak Djokovic wasn’t slow to make a witty remark about the way Stef has finally begun to turn the tennis tide back in his favour.
Novak said: ‘No one beats @stefanostsitsipas98 12x in a row on 500 Tour level. Well done!’
Stef explained: ‘It feels good to walk away with the title here in Dubai. I had two finals here before. They weren’t easy to deal with, especially when you come so close to the title.
‘There are a lot of things that go through your mind. I dealt with those emotions and feelings very well today.’
At Wimbledon, Tsitsipas has often struggled to put a run together at all. He appears to be uncomfortable on grass in comparison to other surfaces.
But maybe he can take some confidence from this latest success – his twelfth tour title in all.
Stefanos Tsitsipas can end years of hurt with a stunning run at Wimbledon 2025 too. He has always been a crowd favourite.
